So Tired

posted Sunday, 13 July 2008

No posts for a while, even though there's been lots of interesting news; very few comments made; and I haven't even got the energy for a 'ramble'. Why? Because I did three 6-hour working days on the trot a fortnight or so back. That's six, not sixteen, nor twenty-six!

Most of the time I'm fairly laid-back about my CFS: it's a nuisance, but let's face it, loads of people have much worse. And, if I'm honest, it was my own fault - I could 'feel the burn', as it were, and there was always going to be a price to pay. The trouble is, I used to enjoy working long hours, back when I could, and there was a job needed finishing, and I didn't really see the harm.

I had half an evening at Readifolk tonight: the singer, Derek Gifford, was good, and hearing the bowed psaltery is quite an experience, but I was falling asleep so I came home at the interval. Maybe I'm just getting old!

It's strange because I don't get any symptoms of CFS at all anymore. I was diagnosed as having Fibromyalgia and this is a lifelong thing whereas ME/CFS can go into complete remission and as the symptoms are quite similar, my GP feels this is what I most likely had because, as I've mentioned, I don't feel ill with it anymore.

I find as time passes my interests seem to change. Old has too many negative connotations I just can't get into. So I speak of it as time passing.

Hi Jonathan, I'm glad your symptoms have cleared. FM and CFS always seemed to me to be positions along a continuum anyway, but, as you say, the FM end is generally considered longer lasting.

Capt, negative connotations was the idea really :)

Ah! I just looked it up and 'whinge' appears not to be part of US English. Basically it's a negative, complaining form of speech. Not at all helpful as a regular practice, but used sparingly can express an overall mood.

Anyway, I'm back on the mend now - muscles hurt and head aches, but the dreadful weariness has eased. Back to posting (and answering messages) soon, with a bit of luck.
